NEMA 4X St. St. Hazardous Loc Cabinet Cooler® System, Thermostat control

Thermostat controlled Hazardous Location NEMA 4X (IP66) Cabinet Cooler® Systems are engineered and approved for use upon purged electrical enclosures found within classified areas. These HazLoc Cabinet Cooler Systems have been tested by UL and meet the stringent UL requirements for these areas. Cabinet Cooler Systems are a low cost and reliable way to cool purged electric control panels founds in the environments. The areas approved are Class I Div 1, Groups A, B, C and D; Class II Div 1 Groups E, F and G; and Class III. Hazardous Location NEMA 4X (IP66) Cabinet Coolers are constructed of stainless steel for food service and corrosive environments and are available in cooling capacities from 1,000 Btu/Hr. to 5,600 Btu/Hr. They can be installed in minutes through a standard electrical knockout. NEMA 4X thermostat control systems are the most efficient way to operate a Cabinet Cooler. They save air by activating the cooler only when internal temperatures approach critical levels. Thermostat controlled cooler systems are the best option when experiencing fluctuating heat loads caused by environment or seasonal changes. Standard thermostat control systems include an adjustable thermostat factory set at 95°F (35°C). NEMA 4X (IP66) Cabinet Coolers (dust-tight, oil-tight, splash resistant, indoor/outdoor service) incorporate a low pressure relief valve which closes and seals when the cooler is not operating to maintain the integrity of a NEMA 4X enclosure. Each of these systems include a water-dirt filter separator to prevent water condensate and dirt from entering your enclosure and a cold air distribution kit used to direct the air for circulation or on to hot spots. All HazLoc Cabinet Coolers are UL Classified and CE compliant. EXAIR's HazLoc Cabinet Cooler Systems are not purged and pressurized control systems and should not be relied upon nor used in place of a purged and pressurized controller. They are meant for use in conjunction with a purged and pressurized control system.

How HazLoc Cabinet Coolers Work

Compressed air enters the vortex tube powered Cabinet Cooler and is converted into two streams, one hot and one cold. Hot air from the vortex tube is muffled and exhausted through the vortex tube exhaust. The cold air is discharged into the control cabinet through the cold air distribution kit. The displaced hot air in the cabinet rises and exhausts to atmosphere through the cabinet air exhaust at a slight positive pressure. Thus, the control cabinet is both cooled and purged with cool, clean air. Outside air is never allowed to enter the control panel.

With or Without Thermostat Control

EXAIR Cabinet Coolers are available with or without thermostat control. Indeed, the choice between with or without thermostat control largely depends on the specific cooling needs and environmental conditions of your application.

Continuous Operation Coolers (Model 4200 and 4700 series): Ideal for applications requiring constant cooling and a continuous positive air purge.

Thermostatically Controlled Systems (Model 4300 and 4800 series): Efficiently manage cooling by activating only when internal temperatures near critical levels, saving air and energy. These systems are perfect where the heat load fluctuates and a continuous purge isn't necessary.

Moreover, every EXAIR Cabinet Cooler System comes with a 5 micron Automatic Drain Filter for clean compressed air and a Cold Air Distribution Kit to ensure effective air circulation within the enclosure.

Environmental Considerations

NEMA 12 (IP54) Cabinet Coolers (dust-tight, oil-tight) are ideal for general industrial environments where no liquids or corrosives are present.

NEMA 4 (IP66) Cabinet Coolers (dust-tight, oil-tight, splash resistant, indoor/outdoor service) incorporate a low pressure relief valve for both the vortex tube and cabinet air exhaust. This valve closes and seals when the cooler is not operating, to maintain the integrity of a NEMA 4 enclosure.

NEMA 4X (IP66) Cabinet Coolers (corrosion resistant) offer the same protection as NEMA 4, but are constructed of stainless steel for food service, pharmaceutical and corrosive environments.
